A Familiar Format
Well, the format of the honesty stall will be familiar to most customers. The stall is open from 8am – 8pm, every day of the year. It’s well lit on winter evenings, and is protected from the prevailing winds, being attached to the eastern side of our farm office. Our customers park right in front of it, help themselves to their potatoes and load them into the boot of their cars. They then place the correct change (or a cheque payable to the ‘Potato Shop’) into one of the small transparent envelopes provided for this purpose, and simply post the cash through the letterbox of the farm office, the door of which is located right next to the honesty stall.
On any given day, most if not all the 12 varieties we grow will be available on the stall. Our most popular pack size is a 7.5kg paper sack, which should keep a family of four with a conventional diet going for about one week.
As far as our range of varieties is concerned, we suspect it’s unparalleled in Kent. Our range includes everything from the traditional King Edward to the trendy Pink Fir Apple, via four exotic varieties Shetland Black, Salad Blue, La Ratte and Highland Burgundy Red. Five white varieties (Nicola, Maris Peer, Estima, Wilja and King Edward) and the UK's most popular red, Desiree. Click here for details of our varieties
